self evaluation

For my last speech, my topic was healthy teeth and my goal was to motivate my audience to keep their teeth healthy. I think I achieved my purpose fairly well. I explained almost everything there is to keeping your teeth healthy and how to avoid them. As well as what the consequences were. Since I presented my speech in front the teacher, I felt more comfortable. I wouldn’t say I was all that confident because I am never too confident when giving a speech because I feel like my audience is always criticizing my speech.

If I had to do my speech all over again, I would definitely change the way I put things together. I felt that it was fairly unorganized and could have been better. Also another thing is I should have put more statistics to help my speech more believable not that it wasn’t. I prepared for my speech a lot this time because I knew it was my last and had to receive a good grade. I think it paid off in the end. My delivery was alright, but I caught myself repeating myself a lot and I wish I would have changed that.

The difference from my last speech has to be my eye contact as well as better preparation. I did prepare for my last speech but not as much as I did for my final speech. I practiced my final speech over and over until I got sick of it. I even presented in front my friends to feel more confident about myself. My eye contact was much better than my last speech for sure. I felt that I was speaking from the heart when I was giving my speech last week. I knew what I was talking about barely looked at my note card. Just so I could avoid reading off my note card, I only wrote in key words that I would have to remember instead of writing down full sentences where I could just read it off.

I believe I improved a lot from my last two speeches. I have learned a lot during the past month because I have been reading a lot of the materials in the book. If I had to rate my eye contact I would have to say a 7 or an 8 out of 10 because I made sure kept my eyes out to the audience and not so much on my note cards. I used about 3 citations in my speech. Two from an internet source and one from an article.

From the three speeches I have presented in this class, I am going to say that I performed my last one the best. Even though I thought the second one was my all time favorite, I believe I presented the last one the best because I learned from my first and second speeches. From my first speech, I learned to have better eye contact and to read less on my note card. From my second speech, I learned to expand on my topic. To talk in more details and to give more trustworthy facts. Overall, I believe I progressively got better and public speaking as the days went by.
